2011 Rotary D9690 GSE Team to the Central Visayas region of the Philippines (D3860)

The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for businesspeople and professionals. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. Team members experience the host country's culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.

GSE Team farewelled form Bohol amid tears, singing and lots of hugs!!


The GSE team farewelled by the Tagbilaran Rotary Club : (LtoR back row):Alex, Tony, Ted, Victor, Baby, Martin, David, Bec, Kylie, Angie, Jasmine and Art (seated L to R) President Elect Peter Crowther, President Leonila 'Nila' Montero, Madam Dinah Ramiro, charter member, Dr Lou Ramiro, Ian and Mildred.

We now are 'adopted' and (very much honoured) 'Happy Little Bolholomites!!!


A very big thanks to Assistant Governor PP AG Baby Banton (left) and President Nila Montero (right) who made our stay and experiences so wondeful! Bravo all. Now back to Cebu!

Team Leader

Ian has been a member of Richmond Rotary Club since 1978. He has served in various positions including Club President in 2008/9 and has served on the District Vocational Committee.
Ian has been a primary school principal for 35 years and has a particular interest in open spaced learning where teams of teachers engage children to raise educational outcomes. Married with three children, Ian lives in Richmond, N.S.W. with his wife Judy and both enjoy motor homing, travelling, sport and the theatre.

Martin has been sponsored by the Rotary Club of Kurrajong/North Richmond and lives in North Richmond. Martin is a member of Fire and Rescue, N.S.W., and has been a fire fighter since 1998, achieving the rank of Senior Fire Fighter.
Martin volunteers with the State Emergency Service and has a diverse range of personal interests. He enjoys abseiling, rock climbing, scuba diving and adventurous outdoor recreation and is actively involved with his Church and the local theatrical society in the Hawkesbury.
